Very little in the way of video footage exists of the Platinum Needles. In the early eighties the video camera required an army of people to carry it and its supporting equipment around. Home video recorders were just starting to take off and the VHS v Betamax debate was still raging on. What does exist is one full gig, Tiffany's in Newcastle Under-Lyme from February 1981, and excerpts from the Opportunity Rocks final at the London Dominion theatre from December 1981. It is thought that black & white footage of the band performing "Gimme the Push" at the Cry Havoc gig, at the Victoria Hall Hanley is waiting to be dug up somewhere but it may well have rotted in the sands of time. What you have here then is the best of the available footage. "Monotone" is the Redball recording played over some footage and images. "God Have You Any Views" the only recording of any type for this song is taken from the Tiffany's gig. "Maybe", "I Want To Work" and Gimme the Push are all taken from the London gig. Whilst the quality is not brilliant all of these clips highlight the bands strong presence on stage.
