In July 1980 we rescued over 100 promotional 5 minute tapes from a rubbish tip. We decided to put them to good use by recording these two songs live during rehearsal and releasing them as a cassingle. The double A Side Maybe & Monotone was released on the 1st August 1980 and sold around 100 copies at 50p each raising enough for a new microphone for Shane. The Line up for this session was:- Gary Sewell - guitar, Shaun Evans - Drums, Shane Henderson - Vocals and Stuart Muir - Bass.

These are without doubt the best of the Platinum Needles recordings. The first session in September 1980 was for the Cry Havoc album and featured the two tracks which made it on to the album - Telford & Organised Disruption the third track recorded was Violence. The second session recorded in December 1980 again featured three tracks - War & Peace, Monotone & Back to my Video. The Line up for these sessions was:- Shaun Evans - Drums, Shane Henderson - Vocals, Stuart Muir - Bass and Gary Sewell - guitar. MP3 Versions of these tracks are available for download from the bands MySpace page
